Boys Basketball: Passing of the Torch

As we enter 2025, we find ourselves reflecting over a great season of sports. This year has been a testament to the dedication and sustained passion of Seoul Foreign School's athletes; up-and-coming underclassmen have taken full advantage of their opportunities of development, while seniors, approaching a new chapter of their lives, wrap their sports season up and pass down the torch.

"To the seniors, if this is their last time playing organized basketball I just want to congratulate them on the past four years, and I wish them well wherever they end up in the future," Roman Pinkston (12), Co-Captain of the Varsity Boys Basketball team stated.

The Varsity Boys Basketball team proved this sentiment with a very successful season, where "numbers speak for themselves". Roman Pinkston recently reflected on the season, showing appreciation to underclassmen who stepped up to their roles with finesse, shining  a spotlight especially on the talent and hard work of Dev Shah (11), Cameron Lee (11), James Gartside (11), Kaden Gilmore (11), and Cash Gilmore (10). As a captain of an SFS team with a "long and rich history", Roman  said he felt honored, and was happy to assume a role of leadership and "help the guys with whatever they needed."

Winning the KAIAC Cup and placing second in APAC, Pinkston stated that one of the biggest contributors to a successful season has been the fact that the team feels like a "family" where all members are happy to stick with their roles and contribute, supporting each other through games. This sense of unity gave way to a season of development and success. Pinkston says he is hopeful about the future of the Boys basketball team: "For the underclassmen, our team has a very bright future ahead of it, and I wish them the best of luck in future years. I know they will do very well."
