Mark Matthews graduated from SFS in 1979. He attended Cornell College in Iowa but transferred to Asbury College after his Freshman year. He graduated in 1983 with a degree in Biology/Premed. After he started teaching he earned a Masters in Science Education from Georgia State University in 1987.
After teaching Physics for 7 years in Georgia, Mark returned to SFS from 1992-1995 where he taught Chemistry. He returned to Georgia and retired in 2017. He is currently working for the Georgia department of Education as a full time virtual AP Physics instructor.
While at SFS he coached women’s basketball for 2 years, women’s soccer for 3 years, and men’s soccer in his final year at the school. Upon his return to the US, Mark coached men’s soccer until the year before his retirement.
