Mr. Tom Zimmer received his bachelor’s degree in International Business and Marketing from Portland State University. After working in the Business field for five years with Nike Inc. and a large non-profit in downtown Portland, OR, he earned his Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. After a couple of years of teaching in Washington State he joined the Seoul Foreign school faculty in 1995.
Mr. Zimmer taught MS Boys and K-2 Physical Education as well as coached MS Soccer for four years. In January 1996, he met his future wife, Theresa Lyso Zimmer. They married in July 1998 and left for Washington state a year later to teach and start a family. In 2009 they returned as a family of four (Joshua 7, Daniel 5) to Seoul Foreign School. Mr. Zimmer taught PE and Mrs. Zimmer taught French in the High School.
Mr. Zimmer coached Varsity girls’ Volleyball, 2009 and ‘10. He also helped coach HS XC in 2011, ‘12 and ‘13. Additionally, he coached the girls MS VB team to four championships in four years 2012, ‘13, ‘14 and ‘16. In addition, he co-coached the Boys Varsity Volleyball Championship team in 2015.
After ten years at Seoul Foreign, Mr. Zimmer and family returned to Vancouver, WA where he continues to teach Physical Education.
