Phyllis Major graduated in 1967 from Doerun High School in Doerun, Georgia. She received her A.A. degree from Norman Park Junior College, her B.S. in Secondary Education from Valdosta State, and her Masters in Education from West Georgia College.
Phyllis taught at SFS from 1985 to 1989 and was a 5th and 6th grade classroom teacher. After SFS Phyllis and her family taught at Karachi American School Pakistan, International School of Bangkok, and the American School of Budapest before going back to the United States in 2003. The Major's international teaching career spanned 18 years.
At SFS Phyllis coached JV Girls and Varsity Girls basketball.
